Very well-informed, helpful, and friendly tour guide. Well-organized tour with many spots that you would probably miss when you discover the city on your own. We definitely recommend to take the tour - especially in your first days in Sarajevo. Thank you so much, Edin :)

I was 12 years old when the siege broke out and frankly have the briefest of memories about a far away place called Sarajevo that once held the olympics. I had not idea where this place was nor care much about what happened there. Fast forward 27 years. As a teacher I am determined to make my high school students more aware of what is happening around the world and to inform them of atrocities that have occurred in order to help them understand we are all humans and far more alike than different. Over the past year I have spent a great deal of time reading about the Siege, watching documentaries etc... to come to Sarajevo and see Sarajevo roses (locations where mortars fell that are filled in with red resin as a memorial to those affected and a visual reminder of what happened not that long ago), sniper alley, the holiday inn hotel where journalists from around the world tried in vain to get the world to care about what was happening here, and the tunnel of hope was indescribable. Our tour was led by Edin, a phenomena guide. Edin provided us with all the knowledge we needed to understand the conflict and also shared his own experiences, much of which he learned from his parents as he was born in 1992. He shared that his father made over 300 trips through the tunnel to get needed supplies for his mother and him... the tunnel itself is 800 meters long, is extremely narrow, has a low ceiling (meaning that even I had to walk crouched and I’m only 5’2”), was often filled with water.... that doesn’t even include the harrowing ordeal of getting through the city to the tunnel where snipers shot civilians at every turn and mortars fell through the sky. While the historical knowledge that was shared was absolutely great, it was Edin’s persona accounts (many of which I’m not sharing as it is not my place and not my story and should be kept private) that truly touched me. The tunnel museum is where we spent the bulk of our time after driving through the city down sniper alley, past the holiday inn, the monuments dedicated to the child victims, and the sites of two of the largest massacres via mortar that took place at markets. After the tunnel we drove up to the top of Mount Trebevic which was once home to the 1984 Olympics bobsled course, as well as the vantage point from which tanks launched mortars and snipers made their nests... here he pointed out sniper alley again and the Vrbanja bridge (also known as the Suada and Olga bridge to honor two of the first victims a of the siege). He explained how to tell the difference between Muslim graves (white stone is used and has a headstone and footstone) vs the Christians (black stone) and we ended up at the yellow Bastion which provided another view of the city. This tour was very well done (and worth every cent) and brought the stories to life.... this is by and large due to the talents of Edin and his ability explain a complicated war in an understandable manner. He also very patiently answered many questions and after the trip was over even recommended to some of us his favorite place to eat, Pod Lipton, which was affordable and absolutely delicious. Book the tour, you won’t regret it... or forget it.

The “Times of Misfortune” tour was the highlight of our stay in Bosnia & Herzegovina - and honestly the best tour we have ever been on. Edin skilfully explained the complex siege to us across the 4-hour tour and showed us important sites; including the Tunnel of Hope, sniper alley and the mountains surrounding Sarajevo as well as sharing his family’s personal experience during the 4 years of the siege. We departed the tour feeling absolutely heartbroken and in awe of the people of Sarajevo and cannot thank Edin enough. Info Bosnia’s “Times of Misfortune” tour is a must for when you are in Sarajevo.

Great service and tour from the guys at the info centre in town. Made us feel welcome with a complimentary bottle of water. Our small group then met Edvin, our driver of what was a splendidly clean and well maintained vehicle. Edvin was also our guide for the day and boy did he know his stuff. A superb insight in to the troubles of the recent war and some Bosnian history. Would highly reccomend when visiting Sarajevo, a must do. The chaps at the office have also offered to store our bags as we are going hiking for two days. For this I am very thankful.
