The tour highlighting the war in Bosnia and the siege of Sarajevo is excellent. The very knowledgeable and helpful guide led us to some of the key sites and places. The background information about Bosnia/Herzogovina, the ethnic and nationalistic causes of the war, the dynamics of the siege were gripping. The guide was a small boy at the time, and talked about living in Sarajevo during the time of the siege. We went up high in the surrounding mountains to get a sense of the position of the Serbian forces; walked in the tunnel the Sarajevans used to escape the zone, saw sights of massacres, and heard about the politics of the epoch. We had not been to the Balkans before and were confused by the complexity of the ethnic, religious, and political dynamics there. This tour provided a very helpful overview and clarified and focused some of the key dynamics of the region. It is very helpful not only to understand Sarajevo, but to understand the entire Balkan region. We would highly recommend it as a must for any visitors to the city.
The Times of Misfortune tour was wonderful. Our guide had an unlimited amount of information about Sarajevo both past and present. We got to see all of the varied sites that are spread across town, while receiving great information about Sarajevo's history. We couldn't have been happier with our tour! Highly recommend.

Today we were fortunate to take the Times of Misfortune Tour with Mak. This tour was fantastic for it’s sights, it’s information,and it’s beauty. We were able to see all the important spots and got the full history while doing so. Mak was an excellent guide; he was knowledgeable, patient, and made us feel totally at ease. We felt like we were being shown Sarajevo by a good friend who had a wealth of info to share. This was perfect. Thanks Mak. We would book this tour again with you!
