We were looked after by Mirza; he was an excellent host and we would recommend this
tour, with him, to everyone visiting Sarajevo and wanting an insight into the Siege. A big
thank you to Mirza for for looking after us so well, including picking us up from our Hotel.

While visiting Sarajevo we wanted to dig deeper into the history of the '92 – '96 period so we signed up for the Times of Misfortune tour. The tour lasted exactly four hours and we visited the Tunnel of Hope museum, the sniper point on the mountain, the Sarajevo Olympic Bobsleigh, the Jewish cemetery, the White Fortress and the Yellow Fortress. Besides our guide Mak showed us many more important places while reaching our destinations by car (e.g. sniper alley, National museum, Radio-Television building etc.).
Everything was explained clearly and in details allowing us to get an overview of the Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Communist past of Sarajevo. We also got very interesting insights on the siege dynamics, consequences, current situation of Bosnian government and what it is like to live and work in Sarajevo nowadays.
It has been a truly eye-opening experience visiting those places we were seeing on television twenty-five years ago. Back then as little Italian kids we did not understand much, we just knew that “our neighbors” were undergoing much trouble and sorrow. Now as adults we have come, seen and understood what happened through the words of our guide, a guy of our age who told us his first person experience. Many thanks to Asim and Mak for making this tour a key moment in our personal growth. Needless to say, highly recommended!
We did the Times of misfortune tour. It's a nice tour to learn about the history of Sarajevo and to see the city's great viewpoints. The tunnel museum and olympic bobsleigh are in particular very interesting. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The duration of the tour was also fine.
