I can't praise Asim and his team highly enough for looking after our hiking group during our five day stay in Sarajevo and Bjelasnica. Nothing was too much trouble - especially when one of our group was unable to hike. She ended up on a fantastic tour of her own. Either side of three great hiking days with the incredible Elina Koso (Lukomir tour) and mountain guide Admir Ibricic we did a walking tour of Sarajevo and the Times of Misfortune Tour. I can recommend all of them and would go back to do more. Elina's siege stories are still with me and have made me realise how lucky I am not to have experienced war. I also recommend the Hotel Logavina 8 and the Tesla Bar (apart from the indoor smoking).
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and his commentary was very descriptive. The accounts he gave of Bosnian life and the history of BiH were excellent and informative. We were encouraged to ask questions and they were answered enthusiastically. The highlight of this tour for me was the Tunnel of Life. It was a remarkable achievement considering the conditions and situation they were working in. It shows tremendous courage on the part of the people of Sarajevo. I am full of admiration. It was a humbling experience.
I highly recommend this tour and the beautiful countryside of Bosnia.
I've been on many of these types of tours and they come in two types. Guides who are just going through the motions and guides who have a passion for honestly discussing their topics. My tour guide was Mak and he as one of the latter. This is a great tour. The sights are all close to together and he fills the short drive intervals with interesting commentary. He pointed out important sites within Sarajevo as we drove and the amount of time spent at each site was just right. The four hour tour went by quickly and with practices efficiency. The minivan was comfortable and the road trip was easy. This was a good introduction to Sarajevo history, well worth the time.
This was an amazing tour led by Mak, who was an excellent tour guide. Mak is highly educated on the history of Bosnia and Sarajevo, and was able to explain the historical complexities of this unique region. He also provided outstanding commentary on the tragic war which took place here in Bosnia in the 1990s. Mak was able to drive us safely to hard to access areas in the mountains surrounding Sarajevo.
We would highly recommend this tour to our friends, we learned many things that we will retain. Mak is an excellent guide!
