About this tour

Adnan Hasanbegovic a war veteran, born in Sarajevo in 1973, experienced the Bosnian War from 1992-1995 as a young high school graduate. Initially uncertain about the gravity of the situation, he found himself in the war when it reached his doorstep. As part of the Bosnian army, he went from defending his city to facing the harsh realities of conflict. Post-war, he struggled with PTSD, turning to books and religion for solace.

In 1998, he delved into peace activism, recognizing the complexities of achieving lasting peace. Adnan believes that confronting the past, acknowledging responsibility, and fostering understanding are crucial. He acknowledges the deep divides and traumas that persist in the post-war era. Adnan emphasizes the importance of communication, understanding, and collective responsibility in the journey towards lasting peace. Participating in panels and discussions especially with other war veterans, he finds emotional reactions, inspiration, and new perspectives, seeing them as essential steps on the path to reconciliation.
