According to 19th-century London newspapers, Spring of Bosna river was described as the world's most beautiful place, boasting invigorating air, enchanting climate, inspiring landscapes, and soothing greenery. Tucked away southwest of Sarajevo, a mere 12 kilometers distant, this natural wonder finds its home beneath the majestic Igman and Bjelasnica mountains. Strolling through Spring of Bosna river, you can't miss the elegant swans gracing serene lakes. Bird enthusiasts will delight in the opportunity to spot or hear over 300 diverse bird species in this beautiful area.
Gornja Cave, the oldest among the caves in Bijambar, may not be vast in size, but it holds tremendous archaeological significance. People of the Palaeolithic period of the Old Stone Age used the upper cave. It is typically dated to between 40,000 and 10,000 years ago. Middle Bijambar Cave's core chamber is divided into four large halls that are each beautifully decorated with cave formations. A real wonder, the fourth and largest chamber features a ceiling covered in exquisite formations and many stalactites. Due to its exceptional acoustics, the fourth hall is also known as the "music hall" and happen to be largest in terms of square footage (about 60 m in diameter and 15 to 30 m high). This cave hall is acknowledged as one of the most beautiful in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina due to its variety of intriguing shapes and sizes.
